Yes, we are always interested in partnerships. We provide native apps and back ends and have a relatively long citizen science/obs track record with novel methods to engage people. For our portfolio see: https://www.ddq.nl
We are currently involved in two H2020 projects regarding water quality and citizen observatories in the EOSC.

hi Margaret,

Thanks for starting up this discussion thread (I am new to the platform and somehow cannot find a way to see all the posts in this thread).
We (Geo-Information Processing department, ITC. UT. The Netherlands) are also exploring options to participate in this call. Our expertise lies on the spatial and temporal dimension of the data. We have worked on data quality issues (crowdsourced info but also OSM). We also have experience on data curation and database and IT technologies (including web development and web mapping), we have experience with various kinds of spatio-temporal modelling from agent-based models to purely data-driven models. Last but not least, we have an users and usability lab, and a virtual reality lab. From an application perspective, we have experience on urban studies, environmental/climate change related issues, agriculture and public health.

Looking forward to discussing collaborations and partnerships with this community.
Best regards,
Raul

Hi all

We (Mapping for Change) would be interested in partnering up for this call. To give you a bit of background on us, we are a social enterprise, part-owned by University College London (UCL). We have over 12 years’ experience in co-developing bespoke participatory programmes involving citizens, particularly those from disadvantaged or marginalised groups, academics, public and third sector actors. We have used the research and tools developed within UCL (including Community Maps https://mappingforchange.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Introducing-Community-Maps-2020.pdf) and successfully applied them in a variety of contexts.

Some examples of EU projects research projects we have partnered in are:
- Distributed Network for Odour Sensing Empowerment and Sustainability (D-NOSES): Empowering citizens with Responsible Research and Innovation, citizen science and co-creation tools to design odour pollution control measures using the quadruple helix stakeholders.
- WeGovNow towards We-Government: Collective and participative approaches for addressing local policy challenges. WGN used emerging technologies for effectively supporting co production by civic society stakeholders and collective proposition development, whereby citizens are partners as opposed to customers in the delivery of public services.
- Collective Awareness Platforms for Accessibility (CAP4Access): To develop and pilot-test methods and tools for collectively gathering and sharing information about accessibility of public spaces.
- EveryAware: Environmental Awareness through Social Information Technologies. Integrating environmental monitoring, awareness enhancement and behavioural change by creating a new technological platform combining sensing technologies, networking applications and data-processing tools.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Colleagues,
We are an SME interested in partnerships for this call.
We are doing work on the relationship between universities, research libraries and citizen scientists, where engagement seats at its core.
We have developed a prototype that follows the LERU recommendation for a Citizen Science Single Point of Contact at universities. LERU is the European League of Research Universities.
We have a strong expertise in science communication, working for over 20 years with libraries and publishers to help disseminate and create trustful knowledge. We are motivated by the educational role of citizen science and its potential to build further trust in research activities. Keeping misinformation at bay is one of our priorities.
Best wishes,
Tiberius

Hi all,

I would also be interested in joining in a collaboration. One area I'm working on now is a (co-designed) citizen science project where citizen scientists will create lighting inventories. These we intend to compare to satellite data to understand what types of lights are responsible for light emisisons (and light pollution and energy consumption...).

The project above is focussed on Germany, it would be very interesting to take it Europe-wide, because we know that there are very large differences in lighting practice (and therefore energy consumption for lighting) between the European nations.

About me: I've been working with citizen scientists and using citizen science data since 2012 or so. I led the development of the Loss of the Night app, have published papers using Globe at Night and Loss of the Night app data, and have produced these three online tools for what I like to call "citizen analysis":

Radiance Light Trends: https://lighttrends.lightpollutionmap.info/
My Sky at Night: https://lighttrends.lightpollutionmap.info/
My Simulated Sky at Night: http://www.myskyatnight.com/#simulations

In addition to the citizen science call, I'd be very interested in joining any other collaboration that has a place for someone working on the sustainability of outdoor lighting among the other Green Deal calls.

Best wishes,

I've created this dedicated forum, for anyone who would like to get a collaboration discussion going around a specific call, or a specific proposal idea: https://eu-citizen.science/forum/forum/funding-collaborations-48/

...and a little nice-to-know: if you click on your own name after you've saved your post, you'll be taken to your Community Forum profile, and there you can add a photo of yourself! It's a nice way for the rest of the community to 'see' you :)

cheers,

Margaret

For Citizen Science Apps and digital tools, we are happy to partner up in projects for the new Green Deal call.
With the Spotteron app platform, we can provide the basis for interactive toolkits with already many built in features, communication tools and high privacy ethics. We are already partner in sucessful Horizon 2020 projects, so there is already some experience in terms of how the procedures work and what is needed. More information about the app platform can be found on our website: www.spotteron.net

As an SME with a strong background on design and development and much experience in Citizen Science on current technologies, we co-create such toolkits together with the other partners and we can also lead tasks or work-packages within the range of our expertise. Such tasks can range from development and design of the CitSci Apps over add-on tools e.g. for crowdsourced data-analysis to simply the project website. We also take care of all digital tools and maintain them for the project during the whole runtime and beyond for an optimal compatibility, stability and security, which is especially important in the fast-changing environment of mobile technology and smartphone apps.

For proposals themselves, we also love to help out with well-designed infographics, icons and project logos, which has been highlighted as beneficial in the reviewers' feedback.

One thing to mention regarding the call's topic - as active participants in the "climate and eco movement", counteracting climate change, fighting biodiversity loss and supporting the necessary transition is something we take on by heart. So this project call is especially important for us on a personal level, too and we would love to join partnerships for contributing towards making a change.

For any questions and opportunities, please do not hesitate to get in contact via office@spotteron.net or via phone at +43-676-5982272!
Thanks and best regards from Vienna,
Philipp | www.spotteron.net

Hi, I'm intrested in partnerships. I have to option for participation - as Polish NGO and SME. I'm CEO of DIY Fix Your City Foundation. The main goal of the foundation is to revitalize cities with support of participatory tools and citizen science (eg air quality monitoring). We have done several community mapping project and cooperate with local government as well as with formal and informal groups of residents. We create concepts for the development and functional plans for urban spaces, which are referring to real needs and in some cases mediating spatial conflicts.

OpenAir is SME established in 2019 which produces indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring device. Based on data we create air quality recommendations with usage of machine learning.

If you are looking for technological support (e.g. (mobile) data collection, data analysis, visualisation, ...) in your citizen science project we have the solution for you. The Software Languages Lab of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel is developing a platform, called weave.ly, that enables everyone to develop their own data collection, analysis and visualisation systems (see https://weave.ly/citizen-science/). We have used this platform in numerous Belgian citizen science campaigns (e.g. to measure air and noise pollution, to map and analyse bycicle traffic, etc.) and are always on the lookout for new collaboration opportunities! Moreover, our lab, and the university as a whole, has ample expertise in writing project proposals and managing/conducting project-based research.

In short: are you looking for an app to run your citizen science campaign but you want to avoid 5-figure development costs? Then weave.ly is what you are looking for.

I recently saw an overview of the submissions to the Green Deal call. For Citizen Science LC-GD-10-3-2020 a total of 204 proposal were submitted while the max available funding is for approx 5 proposals!

Where are we going with this? What does this mean for Citizen Science funding in the future?

Here is a link to get a good overview of all GD submissions and success rates:
